Last week the Ped Café was open again and this time the discussion topics were internationalization and integration. The attendees (both staff and student union ASK) discussed both integration of international students and internationalization of the native students. How can we create a more well-integrated mix? The café attendees concluded that there are several possibilities for this at Arcada, but that it is not always easy to find the right ways. We have come a long way and we do many good things, but we could share more best practices with each other for example between IB, Nursing and Plastics -the English taught programmes. The importance of activities within the curricula, in the course, (what happens in class) were stressed.
However the important work that the international office do was also very much a topic: both in house activities and the outgoing mobility activities. Another thing that was mentioned was the importance of cultural sensitivity and awareness -these are building blocks for real integration and understanding.
So, with all these possibilities in the house lets continue the discussion and the activities and be more aware already today!
