A Day in the Life of an International Business Student

Hi there!

My name is Nessrine and I am a second year International Business (IB) student majoring in marketing here at Arcada University of Applied Sciences (UAS). I thought it would be fun if I let you in on what a day in my life as a student looks like!

I started my day by getting up earlier than usual because I needed to borrow a book from the Arcada library. The library has all the books necessary for your courses and interesting books within all the fields that the school offers education in. It was a typical Finnish cold and cloudy autumn morning, but I really enjoy the cold so it was a happy morning for me.

Having stopped by at the library I went to one of the class rooms that are for students to use to start my first online class of the day. The class was Digital Marketing Landscape, which is an interesting course filled with guest lectures about quite impressive topics. For example, today’s lecture was about Google Analytics and why the use of it is important to shape a business strategy.

Following that lecture my friends joined me to finish prepping our presentation for our next course which is entrepreneurship. The presentation went really well and at the same time it prepared us for the final one in mid-December. After that it was time for me to head home to go through my notes for tomorrow’s course lecture as well as catch up on some assignments that are due soon. I ended the day by just relaxing and watching a movie.

A beautiful campus and one big family

When it comes to lectures, our schedule this year is not as full as last year. We have two to three days free of lectures that help us do some self-studying together with the reading required for some courses. This is one of the reasons that I am thrilled and beyond happy to have picked Arcada as my university two years ago, not to mention the really enjoyable environment it provides to students with its diverse learning conditions. The beautiful Arcada campus was one of the first things I fell in love with the first time I visited the UAS.

Also, one of my favourite things about Arcada is how our small community creates a warm and including atmosphere, which makes it easy to make new friends and bumping into old and familiar faces. If you choose to be a part of this big family, I can assure you that great opportunities await.
