Be smart – Go international!

21.04.2016 Education, Entrepreneurship, Projects

Would you like to gain real-life working experience while studying? Are you interested in working with international companies or maybe helping companies in Finland to go international? Don’t miss excellent opportunities to take your first career steps while still at Arcada. Learn about EDU-SMEs project.

EDU-SMEs project was launched by Arcada in autumn 2015. It is a collaboration of several universities of applied sciences, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. The goal of this project is to help students develop their skills in international business through real-life cross-border assignments, which means that you would be carrying out real projects for companies as part of your courses. And who knows, perhaps you may find your first employer too?

Until now, a lot of preparatory work has been done to help you get the best out of what the project has to offer. Contacts with SMEs are being made in the region and many of them want to participate already. Assignment tasks offered by SMEs vary from company to company, but the bottom line is that they want to find ways to export their services and products to other countries, or attract foreign interest. Here you have a potential to learn and showcase your skills to a company by providing relevant information and studies for designing its internationalisation strategies.

The good news is that you will not be doing it all by yourself. To support you in cross-border assignments teachers will provide you with valuable learning material, which is currently being developed, and once it is ready, it will be available as an e-learning course on Eliademy platform. Your teacher will also be there to guide you and give advice.

Junglebar is one example of a product, for which a small company in a similar project asked students to carry out a market research. Marketing an insect infused protein bar and finding the right target groups may require to think out of the box. Are interesting ideas already popping into your head?

Stay tuned! More information is coming soon. For now you can find out more about the project by visiting www.edusmes.eu (External link) website.

EDU-SMEs is a collaboration project between Arcada, Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Estonia), TTK University of Applied Sciences (Estonia), Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (Latvia) and Valmiera Business and Innovation Incubator (Latvia).
