Six weeks ago, the training team, consisting of Lisa and Matias, finally got started. Our task before the expedition is to improve the physical health of the participants on the expedition. Therefore we started off by doing physical tests which you can read about in an earlier blog post.
Now here we are, 6 weeks later, both highly active and highly motivated. Going on an expedition together demands great teamwork and getting to know each other. Keeping this in mind, the form of training we have organized has mostly been different sorts of group training in Arcada’s facilities. Both Matias and Lisa have organised group training, often using a circle formation with different stations, working on both cardiovascular endurance, muscle endurance and strength. Jogging and gym training has also been popular and new dates for training in different forms have been booked. Besides the group training we provide guidelines regarding nutrition and lifestyle and are happy to help with training programmes.
Matias is also helping out with the training for the actual climbing. With our own awesome Via Ferrata inside Arcada we are able to train as much as we like for the different situations we expect to deal with on the expedition.
With a good physical condition, a healthy lifestyle and an empowering attitude, boosted with a hint of the Finnish sisu we are ready for a lot of experiences and whatever France has to offer us.
