Expedition Arcada visits the French Embassy

On April 30th we had the great opportunity to visit the ambassador at the French Embassy, in order to present Expedition Arcada 2015 and discuss a potential collaboration.
The ambassador and his press secretary welcomed us at the beautiful Embassy building located right next to Kaivopuisto. Even if just a few of us spoke French, we immediately found a common language in the form of coffee and croissants. We were very impressed by the elegant French interior décor, and told the ambassador it feels like we are in France. He then replied with a smile, “Technically you are in France.”.
Our hope was to find a mutual interest that could benefit both the activities of the French Embassy and our expedition. Expedition Arcada will produce two documentaries, a book and 50 short videos, which all share an important theme: our expedition has particularly chosen to go to La Grave in France, because of the beautiful nature and great climbing opportunities.
Both the ambassador and his press secretary showed an interest in our expedition and were happy to discuss different ways of collaboration. They naturally also asked us if we are bringing a sauna tent with us. All of us nearly fell off our chairs when we realized we had not packed a sauna tent. How could we have not thought of this magnificent idea!? Getting a sauna tent was now priority number one.
We thanked the ambassador for his time and promised to waive to him from Kaivopuisto the next day when celebrating Vappu. He was pleased to hear that.
Next time reporting directly from La Grave!
