Visitors to the library have perhaps noticed that the books have been moved around and there are two strange machines beeping between the shelves. What is happening?
The library is converting to a new technique called RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). Every book gets its own identification-sticker which can be read off at a distance trough radio waves. What does this mean to me as a borrower? It means that lending and borrowing will be smoother and faster, as the RFID-machine can read the stickers of a pile of books at once! This splendid technique will be ready for use in the autumn of 2017!
