During the last week Arcada’s freshmen from all programs had the chance to take part in a very traditional way of celebrating within the Swedish speaking community in Finland. ASK organized the annual Gulis Sitzes on four days for both international and Swedish speaking students. With all four days fully booked it was up to the eager Tutors and Toastmasters to introduce the freshmen to the rules and traditions of a sitz.
Though the Gulis Sitzes were a bit more calm than other sitzes, everybody seemed to enjoy the singing, dining and drinking. The students also got the chance to meet new people among their school mates and chat with older students, who took part in small numbers to enhance the atmosphere of the party and help out with the melodies and traditions.
The after parties took place in TLKs Club Werket where people who could not get a spot in the actual sitzes were able to get together with their fellow students for a drink or two, some dancing, and nice conversations.
All in all the whole event week went very successful and the ASK team was more than happy with the outcome and new won friends!
