Here is recap of the second day of the Nordic Business Forum conference 2017 and our final day of our live stream event which we organized together with Helsinki Think Company, Laurea Entrepreneurship Society, Hanken Entrepreneurship Society, Haaga-Helia Entrepreneurship Society and in collaboration with University of Helsinki.
The second day turned out be a lot more popular compared to the first day of the live stream event. Bad weather outside, as it was raining the whole day but a great atmosphere inside Tiedekulma.
The second day was the day Will Smith was going to take stage so naturally a lot of people came to see him and what he had to say. Another interesting speaker was Patrick Lencioni, author of The Five Dysfunctions of a Team and eight other business books and founder and president of The Table Group, a firm dedicated to providing organizations with ideas, products and services that improve teamwork, clarity and employee engagement. Below are a few valuable notes we took from his speech;
“Vulnerability is important in a successful company or team and it always requires the leaders to show it first” – being honest and showing weak sides or flaws is part of being vulnerable
“Showing vulnerability is important but so is trust. Many persons hide their weaknesses and conceal their mistakes” – it’s better to work in teams that consists of people who are not afraid to tell about their weaknesses and mistakes but instead are more open about it
“Conflict is good“- discuss about all the possible problems within the team and solve them together
