AES: Academic term, autumn & new events

Hello all,

It’s been awhile since our latest post in our blog. Summer is now over and we can happily again inform you about our latest events and collaborations, as discussed below.

A few weeks ago we celebrated the opening of the academic year at Arcada. We want to wish all the new students a very warm welcome to Arcada and look forward meeting you around all the entrepreneurial questions, ideas and concerns you may have during your time in and outside the school.

Our free of charge livestream of the famous Nordic Business Forum is unique!
Coming up next is a livestream of the Nordic Business Forum conference, specifically and only aimed for students which is completely free of charge. The livestream event is going to be organized at Tiedekulma (Yliopistonkatu 4, 00100 Helsinki), a totally new building and hub which is currently being built. Tiedekulma is a place for thinkers, doers, students and innovators. The livestream will be on Monday 2nd of October and Tuesday 3rd of October 2017 (the program can be found from the following link). Be sure to register for the event here.

The event is made possible by Arcada Entrepreneurship Society, Helsinki Think Company, Laurea Entrepreneurship Society, Hanken Entrepreneurship Society, Haaga-Helia Entrepreneurship Society and in collaboration with University of Helsinki.

Ever heard of FallUp?
FallUp is an event organized by Aalto Entrepreneurship Society, that brings together students, entrepreneurs and key players in the ecosystem to get inspired, develop themselves and connect with other like-minded people. FallUp 2017 is going to be held at Finlandia-talo (Mannerheimintie 13 E, 00100 Helsinki) on Tuesday 10th of October 2017. The event will consist of a stage show featuring inspiring entrepreneurs, an interactive demo booth area, open-mic idea sharing competition and workshops for concrete learning.

Arcada Entrepreneurship Society will be participating with a pop-up stand. Come say hello and interact with all the companies and people involved in this amazing event!

Slush and Slush Music are a definite must see and a experience one has to attend!
Slush brings together the leading actors of the global tech scene to Helsinki for something very special. Described by many as “Burning Man meets TED”, the event has grown in just a few short years to 17,500 attendees and 1 million live stream viewers. Slush is built for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs. Whether you are looking for investors, customers, media exposure or mentoring, Slush offers a unique opportunity to reach the global audience and engage with the tech community.

After one truly amazing kick-off of Slush Music in 2016, we are again bringing music, technology, and entrepreneurship together in Helsinki in November. We truly believe that in Slush Music the world-conquering music entrepreneurs will find solutions to existing challenges and build the next generation music entities.

Slush is organized Thursday 30th of November and Friday 1st of December 2017 at Messukeskus (
Messuaukio 1, 00520 Helsinki). Slush Music is organized Tuesday 28th of November and Wednesday 29th of November 2017 at Kaapelitehdas (Tallberginkatu 1, 00180 Helsinki).

Slush is still looking for and accepting volunteers!
Slush would not exist without the volunteers. By volunteering you will see how the World’s leading startup and tech event is built – from the inside. You will meet interesting people, learn a lot of new things and get a chance to be part of the unique volunteer community with people from over 50 countries. You can apply to become a volunteer here and applications end 1st of October.

Please note that the low-priced student and academic passes opens up in October.
